Scenes from the Motherland (Part 2)

Sakina was very excited about the qawali party her husband arranged. None other than the grandsons of Aziz Ahmed Khan Warsi. That grand patriarch used to play at the Nizam's court.

Sakina just had to photograph this graffiti. She had grown up hearing stories about the 1947 partition of India.  The words "Police Action" were thrown around very liberally referring to the British army invasion. Sakina had retained this image of Bobbies beating innocent Indians with truncheons.

Outside, a camel was spotted on a street and Sakina noticed that no one bat an eyelid.

This may be the smallest of all small businesses. Afzal's paan shop.

The fruit carts were splendid.

Life is hard and the climate is challenging in the sub-continent.  Here is an entrepreneur doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Now THIS is what a radical feminist looks like.

Of course, some women can never have enough fabric.

And these are BFFS.  In India, spouses do not hold hands but besties do.
