A tiny flash of fiery red appears on the old oak tree outside my window
bringing bare, winter-worn branches alive again.
bringing bare, winter-worn branches alive again.
After months of numbing wind chills and debilitating snowstorms;
of dishwater colored lawns and dingy grey landscape,
Behold!
A splash of crimson on my patio.
The cardinal hops around on the deck like a front row fan at a nineties rock concert
Signaling hope.
Just when I thought all was lost.
My daughter's eyes now sparkle as brightly as the ring on her finger.
Karl's soul is elated at the sight of his son's airborne graduation tassel.
Paula cries with relief .The tumor is benign.
And Nora is thrilled about the long awaited renovation
after the tragedy of the flooded basement.
With hardship comes ease.

of dishwater colored lawns and dingy grey landscape,

Very nice. That shot of bright color changes everything- as does a sunny warm day. Thank you for this beautiful poem!
