Sakina took her mother to a local lilac festival. It was a celebration of color, fragrance and silly plant names.
First, the beauties for whom the festival is named, in all their purplish glory.
Next, Polar Vortex survivors and Vitamin D deficient hijab-wearers alike ought to get to know this guy.
This one was painted with at least one of the colors of the wind.
Sakina's mother retired from work years ago but Sakina still remembered that Thursday was 'mum's payday'. She and her brother would look forward to goodies from the Marks and Spencer foodhall, particularly some prawn cocktail flavoured crisps. The odd little flowers below reminded Sakina of those savory snacks of yesteryear.

Thankyou for posting that last flower - picture - (pansy I think). it was the only flower drawing that I used to do and my friend used to say that it wasn't even a proper flower
