Becoming over zealous for one entire lunar month about your own fasting or chiding others for NOT fasting while pregnant, diabetic, traveling or some other reason.
Glamadan also incorporates criticism for absence at masjid for tarawih or for number of rakats prayed.
Calm down, Ummah. There are eleven other months in the year in which to worship. There are also other FORMS of worship. Being kind to our neighbors, being a good citizen, a trusty friend, son or daughter and seeking out the lonely and needy in the community, for instance. Ramadan can become 'glumadan' for converts, the single or the recently divorced amongst us.
There are indeed manifold blessings in this particular 30 day period. But if fasting is not feasible for someone, they need to be left alone. If your doctor has told you not to fast, or if your body simply doesn't respond well to it, then it's not for you. Plain and simple.
No doubt, this is a glamorous month. There is a lot of hoop-la with iftar parties, rushing to tarawih and qiyams at the masjid, retreats and beyond. This does not mean we forget common courtesies and manners and become evangelical because we are so proud of our annual worship blowout.

Aunty Shameem: So I have a heart condition too yet I'm managing to fast. But it seems like you're not.
Aunty Shahnaz: That's wonderful for you Shameem, but I'm not getting sucked into your glamadan smugfest.
